What this changes
The finding has not established an approved change to our evidence assessment.
Source date: Jul 25, 2023 · Discovered: Sep 16, 2026 · Assessed: — · Historical research backfill
What it does not prove
- The abstract does not report the actual results—whether senolytics reduced pain, effusion volume, or any other measured outcomes—so efficacy cannot be assessed from this text alone.
- Single-center design at one Egyptian hospital limits generalizability to other populations or healthcare settings.
- Natural product formulations have variable composition and bioavailability; results do not clarify which component(s) drove any observed effect.
Extracted from supplied source material; model confidence is not a measured probability of correctness.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
60 participants with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis and ultrasonography-defined effusion-synovitis. Randomized to 3 arms ( natural Senolytic agents alone, natural senolytic plus natural NLRP3 Inflammasome inhibitors and placebo)
1250 mg/day quercetin + 1000mg/day Fisetin for 3 consecutive days every 3 weeks (n = 20), quercetin + Fisetin for 3 consecutive days followed by 100mg/day glycyrrhizin for one week every 3 weeks (n=20) or matched placebo (n = 20) over 15 weeks
The primary outcome measures were change in knee pain (assessed by visual analogue scale VAS) and effusion-synovitis volume on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
