Natural senolytics with or without NLRP3 inhibitor reduced knee pain in osteoarthritis RCT
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 60 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis and effusion-synovitis at a single Egyptian center. Participants received either quercetin plus fisetin alone (n=20), quercetin plus fisetin plus glycyrrhizin (n=20), or placebo (n=20) in intermittent dosing cycles over 15 weeks. Primary outcomes were change in knee pain (VAS) and effusion-synovitis volume on MRI; secondary outcomes included WOMAC scores, cartilage changes on T2 relaxation imaging, medication use, and quality of life measures.
