Pilot study assessed whether dasatinib and quercetin reach the brain in older adults with early Alzheimer's disease.
This pilot study investigated whether a combination of dasatinib and quercetin (D+Q) penetrates into the brain via cerebrospinal fluid in older adults with early Alzheimer's disease. The study was designed as a proof-of-concept to evaluate drug bioavailability in the brain, as prior evidence showed this combination affects dying cells in other chronic illnesses and in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease. No efficacy outcomes on Alzheimer's symptoms were reported in this preliminary phase.
