What it does not prove
- As a pilot study with unreported sample size and effect sizes, provides insufficient evidence to establish whether resistance training improves clinical outcomes in heart failure patients
- Short 14-week duration does not establish whether benefits persist beyond the intervention period
- Mixed-method design combining RCT with qualitative data limits causal precision about mechanisms of improvements

Abstract or registry material supplied for assessment; source version 2. This is not a claim of full-text review.
The sequential mixed method study including a pilot RCT will be conducted to evaluate the preliminary effect of a 14-week elastic band-progressive resistance training (EB-PRT) and a subsequent qualitative study to explore the subjects' engagement experience.
The outcomes cover the whole set of defining characteristics including muscle mass, muscle strength and functional performance and the clinical outcomes which reflect HF disease severity and patient-reported HRQL.
